Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Jellies is a private app built for staying genuinely connected with the people who matter most. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and date of birth (to verify you are 18 or older).

Content you create

Check-ins (including emoji, text, and reactions), support requests, and group activity are stored so the people you share them with can see them.

Group data

Group names, member lists, and invite codes are stored to power the groups feature.

Usage data

We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or behavioral tracking beyond what Firebase provides by default for app operation.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to operate the app:

We do not:

  • Sell your data to anyone
  • Use your data for advertising
  • Share your data with third parties beyond what is required to operate the app
  • Use your content to train AI or machine learning models

Where Your Data Lives

Jellies uses Firebase (a Google Cloud product) to store and sync your data. Your data is stored in Google Cloud data centers. Firebase's privacy policy applies to the infrastructure layer.

Third-Party Services

Jellies currently uses the following third-party service to operate:

Firebase / Google Cloud

Firebase handles authentication, database storage, and real-time sync. By using Jellies, your data is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for Google's privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policy directly.

We do not use advertising networks, analytics platforms, or any other third-party services beyond Firebase. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any new service is introduced.

Who Can See Your Content

Visibility rules

Check-ins and support requests are only visible to members of the groups you shared them with at the time of posting.

New members

People who join a group after a post was shared will not see that post. Visibility is set at the time of posting and does not change.

Group creators

Group creators can see all activity within their group, including member lists and posts shared to that group.

Screenshots and sharing

We cannot control what members do with content outside the app. If you post something, any member of that group could take a screenshot or share it externally. Post only what you are comfortable sharing with your group members.

If you leave a group

Content you posted to a group remains visible to remaining group members after you leave. If you want your content removed, you must delete it before leaving, or contact us to request removal.

Data Security & Breach Notification

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including using Firebase's built-in security rules and encrypted connections.

No system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that your data will never be accessed without authorisation. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for any activity that occurs under your account.

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users by email within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, to the extent practicable.

Your Rights

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, all your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

COPPA Compliance

Jellies is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Although our minimum age is 18, we take COPPA seriously as an additional safeguard.

If you believe someone under 13 has created an account, please contact us immediately. We will delete the account and all associated data promptly upon verification.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us at the email below and we will take steps to remove that information.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below. We will respond within 45 days as required by law.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
